DANCE DEPARTMENT

Patel Conservatory offers performing opportunities that enable students to improve technically and artistically. All dance performances incorporate professional choreography, coaching, sets and costumes in theaters at the Straz Center--one of the finest performing arts centers in the nation.

Next Generation Ballet's Giselle

As George Balanchine said, “Like Hamlet, Giselle is a classic …people go to see Giselle and to see ballerinas dance it for the same reason we go to see new interpretations of Hamlet … we always discover something in it we hadn’t seen before.” The award-winning dancers of the Straz Center’s Next Generation Ballet bring to life this romantic tale of passion, betrayal and a love that survives even death.

Next Generation Ballet's Nutcracker, The Great Imperial Ballet

This elaborate production is presented each winter, featuring more than 100 students from PCYB and NGB. With lavish and inventive costumes and sets, this newly imagined holiday tale will continue to be Tampa's family favorite. From the moment the lights dim, you will be transported to a magical place filled with a glowing Christmas tree, mischievous Mongolian mice, crystalline waltzing snowflakes, elaborate Faberge eggs and toy soldiers. The experience of this glittering classic ballet will stay with you forever and warm your spirit throughout the holiday season.
