National Geographic Live! My Wild Life with Mireya Mayor, wildlife conservationist
From Miami Dolphins cheerleader to field biologist, Mireya Mayor is not your typical girl in pink.
Described in the media as “a female Indiana Jones,” Mireya Mayor is not your typical scientist. As both a primatologist working in the jungle and as a wildlife correspondent for National Geographic, this city girl and former Miami Dolphins cheerleader has found herself sleeping in a rain forest hammock amid poisonous snakes, being charged by gorillas, and diving with great white sharks. While exploring Madagascar, Mayor was one of a handful of scientists who discovered a new species of endangered lemur, and then persuaded the country's prime minister to establish a national park to protect these rare creatures. Mayor, an Emmy® Award–winning feature host on the Nat Geo Wild channel, will share highlights from her recent work, including behind-the-scenes stories from her most recent adventures.
