Giselle Guillen

giselle-head-shotA native of the Republic of Panamá, she began her studies at a young age at the Escuela Nacional de Danzas.  Her professional career began  at 13 years of age, at the Ballet Nacional de Panamá, under the artistic direction of Dame Margot Fonteyn and Nitza de Martin, immersed in the Vaganova and Cuban methods.  She remained with the Ballet Nacional for more than 20 years.

She studied under the distinguished masters Fernando Alonso, Jelko Yuresha, Ramona de Saa, Belinda Wright, Laura Alonsa, Marek Cholewa, Alberto Mendez, Rosanna Ruffo, Jose Pares, John White, Margartis de Saa, and others.

As a dancer, she participated in many seminars and festivals both national and international, in Habana, Cuba, South America and Central America.  She danced in such masterpiece works as Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, La Bayadere, Swan Lake, Les Sylphides, Raymonde, Paquita, Don Quijote, Giselle, Serenade Majissimo, and many others.   

In 1995, together with her sister Graciela Guillén, she opened G & G Estudio de Danzas in Panama City, Panamá, where she served as Artistic Director and Ballet Teacher until moving to the USA 2005.   She traveled with her students to seminars, festivals, and competitions in Habana, Cuba (Cuballet), Czech Republic (Prague), Italy, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Orlando, and Las Vegas, where her students won many of the highest awards.

From 2005 through 2013, she continued her work as a Classical Ballet teacher at several top schools in South Florida.  In 2009 and 2011 she completed extensive seminars for Vaganova instructors led by the esteemed couple of John White and Margarita de Saa, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Academy of Ballet Society.  In 2010, she served as a judge and instructor at the 18th Passo de Arte International Dance Competition in Indiatuba, Brazil.

In 2013, she moved to the Tampa Bay area with her family and accepted a position as a Classical Ballet Teacher at the Patel Conservatory/Next Generation Ballet.
